We are all here now. Even Louis, Mike’s high school friend who lives in Denver, I believe is close. He will be joining us this morning. This group photo was taken yesterday afternoon. Everyone is in it except Marshall, Ann and Louis. (Marshall was taking the photo.)

The event has gotten a soggy start. They had light rain on Thursday morning and then a storm with heavier rain on Thursday afternoon. Although the event has not been called off but they have had to close the longest course and we are all waiting for wind and sun to dry out the salt.

Mike, Trey, David and Marshall managed to get through tech yesterday morning. Everything went well. Since the long course has been shut down, the streamliners will be running on one of the shorter 3-mile courses. We are still not sure when those courses will be declared dry enough. The prediction yesterday was that they may allow runs starting tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon. Our group will pretty much be all leaving by Wednesday morning so we will have to seize the opportunity once the courses open.
Our flight was on time and we got to the salt at about 1pm. The kids rode bikes on the salt and we all waded through it to get our pit crew arm bands. Mike spent time with both Danny Thompson and George Poteet.
There is a light crowd here at this point. Most of the participants and spectators are within a couple of states so they are more aware of the weather and can choose to come or not come at the last minute. That is not so easy for us, of course.
Here’s hoping for NO more rain and a hot windy day!
