Just letting everyone know where we are on this year’s adventure.
Mike began his journey last Saturday. Our great nephew, David (Marshall and Ann’s grandson), traveled with Mike this year. I am very grateful for that. It went very well this time. The truck performed well with only a hose popping loose a couple of times during the first day. Both times God provided for them. The first time a mechanic stopped to check on them while they were diagnosing the issue on the side of the road. He was local and quickly retrieved the needed hose and tool and helped them with the repair. The second time David was able to identify an auto parts store close by and they purchased the needed part and tool to make the repair. It did not necessarily require a special tool but Mike said it would have taken a great deal of effort to unpack his tools.
Meanwhile Trey and Amanda and the kids were making their way across the country. They made it to Yellowstone National Park for a short stay and should be pulling into Wendover this afternoon.
Marshall and Ann have been on the road as well. They actually left almost 2 weeks ago in their RV and have been enjoying visiting in various places. They arrived in Wendover yesterday.
Seven of us will fly out in the morning to arrive on the salt by early afternoon. A high school friend of Mike’s will be coming on Saturday morning. That will make 16 of us altogether.
I spoke with Mike earlier this morning and it was raining on the salt flats. Hopefully that will not last too long as it can be a “deal breaker” as far as Speed Week goes if there is too much rain.

Stay tuned. I will make sure to update the blog every day beginning Friday evening. (It may actually be early Saturday morning.)
